Job Overview

The DLP Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Data Loss Prevention controls to protect sensitive enterprise data from unauthorized access, leakage, or misuse. The role ensures effective enforcement of data protection policies across endpoints, emails, cloud platforms, and networks, while supporting compliance requirements and business operations.

 

Roles and Responsibilites

  • Design, deploy, and manage Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions across endpoints, email, cloud, and network environments.
  • Define and enforce data classification and handling policies for sensitive information (PII, intellectual property, financial and confidential data)
  • Work closely with business and IT teams to align DLP controls with operational needs.
  • Monitor DLP alerts and incidents, conduct investigations, and drive timely remediation.
  • Analyze data leakage events, identify root causes, and recommend preventive measures.
  • Handle false positives by fine-tuning detection rules without compromising security.
  • Support compliance requirements such as ISO 27001, GDPR, industry regulations, and internal audit controls related to data protection.
  • Implement DLP policies across:
  • Endpoints (laptop, desktop, removable media)
  • Email systems (Microsoft Exchange / M365)
  • Cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) 
  • Develop and maintain DLP policies, standards, and SOPs.
  • Participate in security awareness programs to educate users on data protection best practices.
  • Collaborate with HR, Legal, and Compliance teams on policy enforcement matters.

Educational Qualification

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or related field. 

Experience

 

  • 4–8 years of experience in Information Security, with a minimum of 2–3 years in DLP or data security.
